ASSEFA is a grass root movement, which was started in 1968 for promoting peace loving harmonious communities in rural India on line with Gandhian principles.

To improve the economic, social and cultural status of the rural communities and enhance their skills and self-management capacity. Unite the rural communities without any kind of discrimination and work for the up-liftment of the social, cultural and economic life of all and to establish self-sufficient, self-reliant and self-managed communities based on the principles of love, services and social justice.

OBJECTIVE

• To provide employment opportunities to the target beneficiaries, encouraging them to work on a joint and co-operative basis including collective responsibility and reciprocal assistance.
• To encourage independent thinking among the target beneficiaries by exchange of knowledge, experiences and having open discussions on relevant and up-to-date questions, in order to give them fair and broad information, banning party propaganda and dogmatic assertions.
• To impart literacy, citizenship training and to inculcate the concept of rights and reciprocal duties and community livings
• To undertake community health programmes or independently to promote the total health of the community.

• Wage and life loss compensation for women folk
• Organising Community mass wedding for socio-economically vulnerable couples
• Regular schools for holistic education to the children
• College of education for teachers to inculcate the culture to work among the rural children
